UCAS and University
UCAS and Post 18 Guidance
At Harris Rainham Sixth Form, we are committed to supporting every student in making ambitious, informed, and successful post-18 choices. Our UCAS and destinations programme provides careful guidance throughout the university, apprenticeship and higher education application process.
We encourage students to explore a wide range of pathways and support them in finding destinations that match their interests, strengths, and aspirations.
Our UCAS support process
Students receive structured support throughout Sixth Form, including:
- University and course research guidance

- Support with UCAS registration and applications
- Careers and progression guidance interviews

- Results Day and Clearing support
Students are guided through every stage of the application process to ensure applications are completed to a high standard and submitted within deadlines.
Oxbridge Applications
Students applying to highly competitive pathways, including Oxbridge, Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science and Russell Group universities receive additional tailored support throughout the application process.

The Ivy Table
Our Oxbridge preparation programme, The Ivy Table, provides students with regular opportunities to develop the academic confidence and intellectual independence needed for competitive applications. Through discussion, debate, wider reading, and critical thinking activities, students are encouraged to explore ideas beyond the curriculum and engage in undergraduate-style thinking. Students also benefit from specialist guidance including admissions test preparation, mock interviews, academic enrichment opportunities, wider reading programmes, and personalised mentoring to support them in submitting ambitious and high-quality applications.

The Harris Experience
In addition, students also benefit from The Harris Experience, delivered through the Federation, which provides further specialist support for competitive university applications. Throughout the year, students have access to dedicated consultants who offer expert guidance with university admissions tests and interview preparation. This additional provision complements in-school support by giving students targeted, high-level coaching designed to build confidence, refine academic thinking, and maximise success in highly competitive application processes.
