Since joining Harris Rainham Sixth Form, I’ve been given so many opportunities to challenge myself academically and grow in confidence, and the support from the school has been a huge part of that journey.

One of the most rewarding experiences for me has been working with Axiom Maths Tutoring, where I tutor KS3 students. The school supported me in taking on this responsibility, and it’s helped me develop my communication skills while deepening my own understanding of mathematical concepts. Teaching others has genuinely made me a stronger mathematician.

I’ve also been encouraged to stretch myself beyond the curriculum. I’ve taken part in the UKMT Maths Competition, attended Morning Maths Sessions focused on TMUA and Year 2 Maths content, and I’m currently on the 2026 Maths: Pathway to Bath, which has really helped me understand what studying maths at a top university looks like. Having staff who actively promote and support these opportunities has made a huge difference to my confidence and ambition.

Alongside this, I’m developing my wider academic interests. I’m currently reading Alex’s Adventures in Numberland, which the school encouraged as part of building mathematical curiosity beyond lessons. I also entered an Essay Writing Competition, where I explored the question “Infinity Seems Impossible – So How Can it be Useful?” This pushed me to think creatively and communicate complex ideas clearly.

Harris Rainham Sixth Form has also supported my development outside of maths. I’m a member of Music Society, which gives me a creative outlet and a chance to balance academic work with something I enjoy. I took part in HSBC Experience Week, which gave me valuable insight into the professional world, and I regularly compete in coding competitions on AtCoder, supported by the school’s encouragement of problem-solving and computational thinking.

Overall, Harris Rainham Sixth Form has consistently supported me to explore my interests, take on challenges, and aim high. The range of opportunities available has helped me grow not just academically, but as a confident and motivated learner preparing for the future.
